"In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni" is a Latin verse that translates to "We go round and round at night and are consumed by fire." It is a palindrome that refers to the dance of nocturnal butterflies around a source of light and, in their circular movement, has been interpreted as an expression of desire and curiosity.
I am interested in this circularity as something characteristic of our time. We coexist with a continuum of images that are unfolded and agitated by multiple technical eyes and AI tools that interpret their contours. This piece works with these intermediaries, randomly imagining that new surreal layer on which we orbit.
The video piece is a hyper-infinite landscape readable from all directions, it does not begin or end, it simply flows, like nocturnal butterflies or the eternal return. It has been constructed through a handcrafted work with AI tools, shaping and conversing - between - images about descriptions and events that have caused the degradation of our post-natural environment.
